Here I am in Honolulu airport waiting to fly to Alaska. I have had an amazing day today.
I jumped on a downtown bus from the airport to Waikiki and explored the markets, scrunched my toes in sand and plodged in the crystal clear waters of Hawai’i. Just stunning.
Around 12 I hopped on another bus, this time to the absolutely huge Ala Moana shopping mall. OMG! You have never seen anything like it. Shops everywhere from the generic Wallmart, Nordstroms and Macy’s to the more exclusive Ralph Lauren, Jimmy Choos, Calvin Klein and oh so many more.
I have shopped til I’ve almost dropped and still didn’t see half of the mall. Managed to pick up some designer jeans and a little black CALVIN KLEIN dress for… Wait for it… $109!!!! In my size!!! (And I am not one of the stick figures that can only the buy high end fashion available in Good old OZ – I may need to address that situation when I return!!)
AWESOME! I am currently very pleased with my purchases.
So then back on a bus to the airport. So far for the total transport sum of $2.50 per ride I have seen Waikiki Beach, Diamond Head, Ala Moana Mall, Chinatown, Hilo Hatties, the Dole Pineapple Cannery, Various campuses of University of Hawaii, downtown Honolulu and had a lovely chat with a guy from Idaho who has just moved back after 10 years – we got chatting after I commented on his vibrant, very new tattoo of a dancing hula girl on his leg. You won’t believe it but he can make her wiggle! Unbelievable the characters you meet while riding a bus to the airport!
Ok, it’s off to Alaska now. Catch you later peeps.
