Wikipedia tells me that “Father’s Day is a celebration honouring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society”. It’s a day that has caused apostrophic controversy within the Cruise Megastore camp!
Why? The BIG question. Is it Father’s Day or Fathers’ Day?
A few of the CM Team say, technically speaking, there is more than one Father in the world involved on the day. So it should be a case of a plural apostrophe of possession – Fathers’. Meaning the Day belonging to many Fathers.
However, the majority of the world (and the rest of the CM Team) seem to apply the day to only one Father, theirs. Therefore the spelling of Father’s appears with a singular apostrophe of possession. Meaning the day belonging to one particular Father.
Here at Cruise Megastore we have argued back and forth and ultimately, in the interests of time and sanity, we decided to go with the flow. I admit, we were probably over-thinking it and if people DO notice, I’m sure they will let us know.
So, for all the sons and daughters out there looking for something to WOW their Dad on Father’s Day – here are our top cruises, packages and more picks to get you started. (Also… Dad’s… you could just call us and book your own great deal too!)
